The FP-5 "Flamingo" is a long-range, ground-launched cruise missile developed by the Ukrainian defense technology firm Fire Point. Designed as a heavy-hitting, cost-effective long-range strike system, the Flamingo fills the gap between light, long-range attack drones and expensive, highly sophisticated Western cruise missiles.

Design & Airframe: Features a straight-wing monocoque fuselage constructed extensively from radar-transparent composite materials (such as filament-wound fiberglass and carbon fiber). It utilizes an upper fuselage-mounted jet engine nacelle and an X-configuration tail control surface layout.

Warhead & Payload: Carries a heavy 1,150 kg (2,540 lb) warhead—significantly larger than standard Western cruise missiles—often repurposed from high-explosive aerial bombs or bunker-busters to penetrate hardened concrete structures and industrial facilities.

Propulsion & Range: Powered by a jet/turbofan engine (such as the Ivchenko AI-25 series or indigenous derivatives), providing a maximum operational range of up to 3,000 km (1,900 miles) and speeds of roughly 900 km/h.

Guidance Systems: Operates on satellite navigation coupled with jam-resistant Controlled Reception Pattern Antennas (CRPA) and commercial-off-the-shelf autopilot architecture, foregoing expensive terrain-matching (TERCOM) or electro-optical guidance to keep manufacturing simple and rapid.

Weight & Cost: Has a maximum takeoff weight of around 6,000 kg and an estimated unit cost between $500,000 and $1,000,000.

Production Volume: Revealed in August 2025, initial manufacturing rates started at roughly one unit per day, with production scaling toward a target of approximately 210 units per month.

In June 2026, Flamingos were utilized to strike a military components plant in Cheboksary. Due to complex routing to bypass Russian radar networks, the flight covered approximately 1,800 km, setting one of the longest recorded flight paths for a land-launched cruise missile mission.
